Okay so let’s be real—when Mahindra showed off the BE 6e for the first time, most of us were like, “Woah, is that really an Indian car?” I mean, this thing looks like something straight outta the future. But once you get inside, that’s where the real magic (and some confusion) happens.
The interior of the Mahindra BE 6e is bold, high-tech, super flashy, and also a bit weird in places. If you’re looking for something traditional and simple, this might not be it. But if you’re the type who loves techy stuff, LED lights, and buttons that do weird things—then bro, this one’s for you.
First Vibes – Not a Car, a Spaceship
The moment you open the door and sit inside, it hits you—this ain’t a regular SUV. The whole dashboard literally wraps around you like a gaming cockpit. There’s this halo-style panel that makes you feel like you’re flying a jet, not driving a car. It’s kinda cool, but also might feel too much for someone who likes open cabin space.
There’s also not one but two screens floating on the dash. One in front of the driver (for speed and other info) and another in the middle (for music, navigation, etc). Both are 12.3-inch and look super sharp, but sometimes they’re a little slow if you tap too fast. Maybe software update can fix that, who knows.
And wait till you see the themes—you can change the mood with things like Calm, Cozy, and Club. And the music adjusts with it too. I swear, it almost feels like your car is trying to read your mind. Creepy or cool? You decide.
Steering Wheel – Looks Cool, But…
Now, here’s where things get a bit strange. The steering wheel isn’t round. It’s kinda square, or like, flat on the top and bottom. It looks dope, ngl, but turning it fully in small roads or during parking can be a little annoying. I accidentally honked a couple times just trying to adjust grip.
It also has a glowing BE logo in the middle, which is awesome at night. But for older folks or first-time EV buyers, this steering might take some getting used to.
That Drive Selector Thingy
Between the front seats, there’s this big fat lever that honestly looks like it came off a fighter jet. That’s the gear selector. You don’t pull or rotate it like normal cars, you push it like a throttle. It’s fun once you figure it out, but ngl, first time I tried to reverse, I ended up putting it in neutral and revving like an idiot.
There’s also a rotary dial next to it to switch driving modes. I think there’s like 4 of them? Normal, Fun, Eco, and Wild or something. I only tried Normal and Fun tbh.
Also the storage space below this floating panel is okay, but bigger phones kinda slide around. They could’ve added some rubber mat or something.
Lighting, Roof & Ambient Feels
You know when people say “ambience matters?” This car takes it personally.
The roof is all glass. Not just a small sunroof. It’s a massive fixed panoramic roof, so the whole cabin lights up during the day. There’s also ambient lighting strips running across the doors and dashboard—16 million colors apparently, tho I only tried 3 lol.
At night, the car feels like a nightclub. Some people will love it. Others might say it’s too much. For me, it depends on mood honestly.
Seats & Comfort
Front seats are really nice. Soft, well-padded, and look sporty. They’re electric adjustable and also ventilated (bless in summer). Driver seat even remembers your position, so that’s cool.
Back seat space is decent. Two people will be comfy. Three is okay for short rides but not ideal for long ones, especially because of the sloping roof that cuts headroom a bit. Also, no rear AC controls, which I thought was a bit of a miss.
One cool thing: the floor is totally flat, no hump in the middle. So whoever sits in the center doesn’t have to sit awkwardly.
Buttons, Controls, & Some Confusion
Okay I gotta be honest here—some buttons in this car are weirdly placed. There’s a panel above the driver, near the roof, with like airplane-style switches for lights and sunroof control. Cool idea, but feels gimmicky after a while.
Also, some of the touch controls don’t respond right away. Like I had to press the climate control twice to adjust fan speed. Maybe it’s still new and needs software tune-up.
The infotainment also supports voice command, but sometimes misunderstands. I said “play rock music” and it tried to set the navigation to Rohtak lol.
Boot Space and Practical Stuff
So the boot space is okay-ish. Not huge, not small. But because of the sporty sloped back, you lose some height in the trunk. Also, the loading lip is a bit high.
There’s also a small “frunk” (front trunk) since it’s an EV. Don’t expect to fit a suitcase there but can store your charger or shoes or tools maybe.
Tech Overload (In a Good Way)
Let’s talk about the gadgets real quick:

Also, the car has something called a selfie camera inside. Not joking. It takes pictures of you while driving (for safety they say). But I took one and looked half asleep. Will never do it again
Batman Edition (No Joke)
There’s also a limited Batman Edition of the BE 6e. Everything inside is black and gold, and there’s a boost button on the steering that makes the screen glow like Batmobile. It’s only for like 300 buyers though.
If you’re a fanboy, you’ll lose your mind. If you’re not, it might feel a bit cringe.
Final Thoughts – Techy Beast With Some Teething
So overall, the interior of the Mahindra BE 6e is a bold attempt to make EVs more exciting in India. It’s got style, flair, tech, and a futuristic vibe that very few cars have right now.
But at the same time, it has small things that might annoy some buyers:
